Something that I had down as one of my goals for 2016 (goals not resolutions, see post here) , was to become more healthier. Its not so much about weight as it is a more balanced and healthy lifestyle and I have seriously got some work to do on that front. To check in with myself in terms of progress and to keep me motivated, I have created a new section on the blog today namely ‘Friday Fitness Files’.
Every month for the next three months, I will update you and myself on my progress with a plan that I think will help me get started to a more balanced and healthier lifestyle. Last month on my trip to visit family in Dubai, I met a friend who introduced me to Kayla Itsines. Her ‘Sweat with Kayla’ programme consists of a 12 week workout and nutrition plan which you are meant to follow and expect dramatic results. If you are curious just check out her instagram page! The idea wowed me from the start and so here I am, starting it from February 1st and hoping for a kick start to push myself into getting back in a healthier attitude towards food and staying active.
Here are a few things that have made this new chapter easier:
- A purchase I made were the Nike Free Viritous White & Grey Trainers. These are the most comfortable things on the planet, they are designed to be as weightless as possible and allow your feet to breathe during a workout. Great for beginners and people just getting into fitness like myself.
- A great recipe book for a healthier and balanced way of eating, just like the ones Kayla recommends in her Nutrition Guide is Gizzi’s Healthy Appetite. It’s a fuss-free and realistic cookbook packed with delicious recipes that don’t taste like paper.
- And last but not least, for all you Instagrammers out there, I have gathered a few of my favorite fitness enablers who I am practically obsessed with these days:
