As the warmer months draw ever so nearer, many of us just want to get outside after winter hibernation. Although living in Europe, we are not so fortunate to get enough ‘good weather’ days so why not bring the greenery indoors? Simple additions of life such as plants, cacti, or flowers can transform your house into an oasis ready for spring/summer. When picking the right plant for indoors, its best to hit your nearest homeware store and ask for help on how to maintain your plants and help them grow into the space you provide for it. Remember, they are living creatures too! But for the lazy kind (like myself) there are so many low maintenance plants on the market. I have gathered a few tips for transforming your space into a greenterior.
GO CRAZY OR GO HOME
This concept of bringing in so many plants of the different variety can be a little chaotic, but for those of you a) have no garden or b) have the patience to keep up with this demand then please, go for it! The result is a wonderful concoction of greenery that will surely bright up any room and turn your space into an indoor garden.
LOW MAINTENANCE FRIENDS
Cacti or potted terraniums are your friends when it comes to low maintenance plants. They need very little water and can last you a holiday away from home without dying, plus they don’t go out of control as they grow and maintain their shape and posture. Perfect for keeping things looking tidy.
When it comes to bringing the green indoors, all you really need is one eye catcher. This is easily attainable by picking a corner of the house you need to brighten up, preferably in close proximity to a window and find the biggest and most attractive looking plant on the market. Low ceilings? Try something a little smaller that grows out wide and not tall.
PLAY AROUND WITH ARRANGEMENTS
Don’t just stick to potted plants, try using hanging ones, different shaped vases and quirky elements such as un used mugs or measuring jugs for that added whimsical feature. It creates a laid-back atmosphere that is beautiful in its own way.
LADDER AND Á LA CARTE
These two options are for those small spaces or rooms with small windows. They are so versatile and mobile that they can be arranged in a variety of ways around the house. Why not have a ladder plant feature with all your favourite herbs in the kitchen or an a la carte roller in the bathroom hiding away the necessities. Affordable and creative, this is by far an option for all.
